Lets kindle the charade of perception through dissecting eyes of a be-watching burgher
Well...we can begin with mongering of just concluded Gujrat Assembly Elections which has witnessed 7th Consecutive Win for BJP scoring a historical massive feat! Celebrating the grand victory, BJP leaders, spokesperson and supporters along with honorable Home Minister Rajnath Singh are going gaga over the triumph while giving the credit of this landslide victory of 156 seats out of 182 to the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. No doubt, Narendra Modi's presence in BJP bears a strong potential to translating the crowd of electorate into magical figures of victory. But had it been so, what could be the explanation for debacle in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi MCD? Why didn't Modi factor work in favor of these elections too.
Narendra Modi as a Prime Minister represents the Nation hence he has more influence on the results of Lok Sabha elections than on Assembly, Municipal Corporation or any other else.
And I believe everyone amongst us understand these basics beside the political parties like BJP. Its high time they should also accept this very fact and do some analysis and introspection over the real cause of the rout to keep up the flag of their winning spree in upcoming elections.
The first and foremost fact BJP should understand that not every election can be fought or won with the name and face of Modi. Assembly or other local body elections has their own local factors where performance and work of local leaders matter more. Himachal Pradesh is lost due to strong wave of anti-incumbency out of sheer non satisfactory performance of local leaders. People might be happy or offended with central government over any of their policies but when it comes to the elections of their locality, performance of local candidates become more prominent for them which eventually influence the voting results.
Gujarat has won due to 2 considerable factors
The biggest factor is fear of re-emergence of riots. Its only since past 20 years that the people of Gujrat are breathing in riot free air and they feel that deadly days of riots may reappear if BJP loses the power. The state administration of Bhartiya Janata Party in Gujarat has no doubt, proven to be effecting in keeping the riot days at the passive bays. Hence people of Gujrat irrespective of cast, creed, community or religion are always ready to give their unconditional support to the BJP.
Nevertheless, non-performance of some of the local level BJP leaders in Gujarat now and then, did result in the gradual corrosion of people's faith in the party resulting in slimming down of winning figures in the past few elections. But timely recognition of the beating bug and revamping of the state cabinet with performing figures worked positively towards reestablishment of losing trust which consequently translated into massive historic feat!
In the matter of Gujrat the importance of local leaders and their performance levels were accurately measured and given due recognition.
But in Himachal and Delhi the same did not happen
Even after the debacle, BJP leaders at larger scale are not ready to accept the real cause of defeat or feat.
They try to project the perception that they won just because of Modi and if they lose its just because of ignorance of voters! They are not willing to accept their non performance at these two places.
And some of their party workers and local level leaders are busy in firing social media post mocking opposition party leaders. They keep executing the same both before and after the elections. The major pain point with BJP is that they want to contest every election with face of Modi, completely ignoring the performance or non performance of their local leaders along with mocking the opposition, which usually irk the voters and consequently result in rout.
A relevant example to be worth mentioned over here from Jharkhand Assembly Elections held in December 2021-January 2020. Prime Minister Narendra Modi came for election rally in Bokaro Steel City of Jharkhand. During his speech he praised BJP leader of Bokaro Constituency abundantly for his remarkable achievement in successful completion of Bokaro Airport. He was falling head over heels for his sheer dedication towards the development of Bokaro and people in the crowd were having their eyes wide in amazement - when did it happen???...
Now, its December 2022 and still Bokaro airport is a dream for its citizen because it is not constructed yet! PM was heartily appreciating his local candidate for the work he never did!
And That's Where The Sore Spot Lies!
Sheer unwillingness on the part of central leadership to recognize and address the lacuna in local leaders
Unwillingness to see the ground reality and blindly trusting its local candidates, not willing to make any relevant fruitful change in the growing stagnancy.
Local candidates think that they can win elections with Modi Face even without doing anything...
Even if there are some genuine party leaders or workers they are completely sidelined and ignored most often.
And that's what exactly happened In Delhi!
Their Modus Operandi remain the same - Be it Assembly Elections in states like Bihar or recent Delhi MCD Elections
Delhi MCD Election was just an election for Mayor but National Party Like BJP was putting more effort than even any Assembly or LS Elections...senior BJP leaders were singing praise and song of Modi all through the election rallies, speeches and media interviews as well. They kept running the campaign solely with face of Modi? for MCD? Completely ignoring and sidelining the contribution of few of its Delhi leaders like Gautam Gambhir who actually worked on the ground but with no visible credit, appreciation or support from central leadership.
And yet despite the Modi Face lead efforts, AAP Won! How Come? Because it was the War of Perception & Stronger Perception Won!
Aam Aadmi Party always cry foul over no support of BJP for keeping the Delhi Clean. With loads of Advertisement local and national level media channels, they successfully created the perception of AAP government in Delhi as a Victim. In response, BJP was only being defensive, only giving reactions to AAP accusations.
They completely failed to make perception about their work among the masses. They kept singing praise of Modi while giving the municipal corporation fight a stature of national level election campaign. On the other hand AAP was running the campaign adhering to the level of MCD elections only.
While AAP was putting all its efforts in creating the perception of non performance of BJP in MCD , and being unsupportive towards Delhi govt. as well. BJP party leaders on the other hand were just mocking the AAP, reacting to their accusations, singing song in praise of Modi, completely ignoring the work of local level leaders, party workers and strengthening the perception made by Aam Aadmi Party among the masses that they have been non performer as well as unsupportive with Delhi AAP government.

But Arvind Kejriwaal and its party AAP - Just Make Perceptions, Perform Seldom & Yet Embrace The Triumph
Instead of learning from the defeat, one of the party leaders of BJP from Delhi posted below message in Social Media -
Hence strengthening even more the perception propagated by Aam Aadmi Party larders that BJP failed to clean Delhi while holding the chair of MCD and now challenging others that how difficult it is for them also to clean! These kind of steps from the leaders of such and old party indeed put a question mark over its forte of political strategy! They should realize that its better to work on the ground and demonstrate the same through words and other means among the masses then only it is going to work.

Any ways - AAP Leader and Delhi CM Kejriwaal again made his escape route clear when he voiced louder after winning MCD elections that he will expect support of PM Modi to execute his duties in Delhi. Which means another reason for him for doing nothing and making another perception further about not getting any support from Central Government hence he is not able to fulfil his promises and eventually continues to fabricate another campaign towards next elections....
